Top Techno Songs!

The futuristic sound of Techno was created in the late 1970’s by the German band Kraftwerk with songs such as The Robots and influenced a generation of artists in several genres like minimal techno.

top techno songsEven though inspiring the birth of techno, songs like The Robots and Trans Europe Express had their own place in techno rather than what is seen today as top techno songs.

Using mostly synthesized and computer generated sounds, Kraftwerk forged a very unusual sound that was many years ahead of its time.

Many people mistakenly refer to electronic music in general as “Techno” or even god forbid – dance as opposed to top techno songs or the best techno songs, but it actually refers to a specific genre of music. Other electronic music genres that are influenced by Techno include House, Trance, Breakbeat, and Electro, often cross breeding to form a hybrid of music for example electro trance.

In America, Techno grew into its own genre in the 80’s with the help of some talented young artists in Detroit. Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, and Derrick May are considered to be the founding fathers of Detroit Techno and are known as “The Belleville Three” and creating some top techno songs that have defied time. These artists were inspired by an influential DJ named Charles “The Electrifying Mojo” Johnson who showcased the new sound on his radio show. More Techno artists emerged from the rave scene of the 90’s and even more are continuing to push the boundries of electronic music technology today. The low cost and availabilty of these musical tools has spawned a new breed of Techno artists with boundless creative possibilities from those who work from their own home producing music, to those in the huge studios. There are many different styles of Techno music ranging from Minimal, Glitch, and Ambient Techno to Hardcore, Speedcore, and the much harder Gabber. Some of the more popular Techno artists from yesterday and today include:

# Kraftwerk # Plastikman # Ritchie Hawtin # Booka Shade # Laurent Garnier # Boys Noize # Aphex Twin # Carl Craig #Carl Cox #Kevin Saunderson #Juan Atkins # Daft Punk # Derrick May # Dave Clarke # Orbital # Underworld # Miss Kittin # The Hacker # Daniel Bell # Sweet Exorcist # Benny Benassi # New Order

  • I remember house before it was techno | blog.forret.com – If, like me, you every often have to explain why you’re into house music, but not techno, and what exactly the difference is between acid jazz, downbeat, deep house and lounge music, you should know about the Ishkur’s guide to electronic music. It gives an overview of styles, genres and sub-genres of house, trance, techno, breakbeat, ambient, jungle, hardcore and downtempo, all defined and annotated by a Canadian guy who compensates his lack of enthusiasm for some genres by a fair amount of sarcasm. Hardcore is the musical genre with bi-polar disorder: one half is blistering, sadistic anger, a seething uncontrollable rage that seekd to ruin and wreck everything that exists, including everyone else’s fun time.

Top 10 Techno Songs

Hello fellow techno lovers, or those just waiting for the inevitable conversion to a new faith. From Sash to Picotto, this top 10 techno songs list really holds its own against any other on the web.

My own personal top 10 techno songs may not be your own, nobody is perfect! If not then ultimately – fair enough. It’s completely relative to perspective although there are many songs many people like, so in some ways it’s more of a cross section of what people, including myself (yes I am a person), feel about techno. Of course you will get the odd techno viking saying, hey that’s not pure techno, and to be honest in some respects they are right.

Most techno is more hard edge, but the feeling is very similar and sometimes so hard to distinguish, that often many techno actually becomes more of a techno/trance combination, or even electro/techno.

I think all that matters though is the music, if you love electronica and the whole good vibe scene that goes with it, drop in – have a few Shandy’s and just appreciate it for what it is – really good music. What more can you ask for? OK probably quite a lot in all fairness, but it’s a pretty damn good place to start.

Now firstly i want to point out that there are many misinterpretations with what is and what is not techno. Some songs even come under different category’s for example, techno/trance. That being said however, here is a list of my own personal top techno songs of all time by putting them in a top 10 techno songs list! So here we go:

1.Sandstorm – Darude
2.Ravers Fantasy – Tune UP!
3.Along – Alexander Kowalski
4.Wizards of the Sonic – Westbam
5.Drop The Base – Raaban
6.Lizard – mauro picotto
7.Give Me Your Love – Carl Cox Ft Hannah Robinson
8.Soopertrack – Extrawelt
9.In The Silence – DJ Contacreast
10.Komodo – Mauro Picotto

Have a look around the site, it is very new but I will be focused on adding more top 10 techno songs and some more great stuff here for you all to enjoy..!

So I hope you like my top 10 techno songs, I would love to know your own favourite top techno, so please feel more than free to let me know in the comments box and I hope to hear from you soon!

Utah Saints, Something Good 08 – this is The Van She Remix everybody is talking about -download from 3rd March (it was the 10th, but demand has brought it forward!!), in shops 17th March 2008.

http://www.myspace.com/UtahSaints

Having sold over 2 million records to date, recorded with the likes of REM’s Michael Stipe, and performed with U2 and others on mega-stadium tours, Utah Saints remain one of the most trail-blazing outfits within electronic music. Following a self-imposed exile, Tim Garbutt and Jez Willis buried the Utah Saints name in the early Noughties (following unreleased albums and contract oblivion), vowing to return under that guise when the time was right. In the meantime they’ve produced and remixed under their Beatvandals moniker, DJed all over the world, and run the highly successful club night, Sugarbeat, in both England and Scotland.

Now ready to take the world by storm once more, Utah Saints are back in 2008, recording new material for a studio album and playing gigs across the UK, with a mix compilation also planned before the year is out.

‘Something Good 08 (Van She Tech Remix)’ first saw the light of day last year, following Australia’s answer to Soulwax, Van She’s, reworking of the Utah’s original 1992 Top 5 hit. Now signed to the all-conquering Data Records for a full release, expect it to follow the label’s 8 Top 10 hits in 2007.

Remixes come from High Contrast, Ian Carey, Prok & Fitch, eSquire, and Bart B More.

Alex Gaudino Ft Shena : Watch Out DOWNLOAD NOW!!!

June 12th, 2009

Alex Gaudino Ft Shena “Watch Out” Download from 2nd June, In Shops 9th June

Pre-order your copy now – text “BUY ALEX” to 78789

How do you follow-up a UK No.4 smash and pan-European hit like ‘Destination Calabria’? If you’re Alex Gaudino, you turn in an anthem like ‘Watch Out’, currently shaping up to be the UK’s next big crossover club tune for Data Records (they of Utah Saints, Feddie Le Grand, Eric Prydz and more).

Bold, brassy, and using the infamous horn sample from Pig Bag’s big afro hit, ‘Papa’s Got A Brand New Pig Bag’, Gaudino’s once again struck dancefloor gold. ‘Watch Out’ is chart-friendly house music at its best, and testament to the Italian producer’s uncanny knack for creating 21st century floorfilling hybrids.

Already a chart hit in Europe, after being voted the best dance track at the last Popkomm (a big worldwide industry shindig), UK clubland has started to rock to its beat with tastemaker DJ’s like Annie Nightingale, Dave Pearce & Scott Mills at Radio 1, Steve Smart at Kiss and both Des Paul and Steven Sullivan at Capital FM already giving their full support.

Alex began his musical adventures at the legendary Flying Records and UMM, before co-founding RISE Records, signing hit records including The Tamperer and Black Legend. His long-relationship with Ministry Of Sound has brought him a wealth of success, including his single ‘Reaction’, the Blue Lipstick project ‘Head over Heels’ on Hed Kandi, and of course, the ubiquitous ‘Destination Calabria’.

Created with studio partner Maurizio Nari and featuring vocals by Crystal ‘Gypsy Woman’ Waters, ‘Destination Calabria’ reached No. 1 in several countries, including No.1 in the UK Dance Chart and No. 4 in the UK Singles Chart in 2007.

‘Watch Out’s’ vocals come courtesy of Shena, the house producer’s premier vocalist of choice, and the singer on hits including Michael Gray’s ‘The Weekend’, Junior Jack’s ‘Dare Me’, De Souza’s ‘Guilty’ and many more.

The package for ‘Watch Out’ includes remixes from The Mac Project (Steve Mac’s overground guise), UK upstart Micky Slim, US legend Robbie Rivera, and Jamie Duggan Meets Da Booda, who provide a slick bassline take on the original.
